Energy Vanguard Energy Ratings Accredited by RESNET as Sampling Provider

Energy Vanguard Energy Ratings (EVER), the home energy rating division of Energy Vanguard, is now a RESNET-accredited HERS sampling provider. What this means is that EVER’s certified home energy raters can now offer more cost-effective home energy rating services on some projects because the sampling protocol allows HERS raters to rate one home out of a batch of homes rather than individually rating each home.

The RESNET sampling protocol was designed to allow production home builders, who build hundreds or thousands of homes a year, and multifamily home builders, who build hundreds or thousands of similar units (condos, apartments, townhomes…), to take advantage of their mass production methods. The RESNET standard on sampling allows sampling any type of home in batches of up to seven homes. EVER has adopted a more stringent set of requirements.

Here are some of the features of EVER’s sampling protocol:

• Only multifamily homes qualify.
• Sample batches can be up to 4 homes.
• EVER raters using sampling must have done at least 10 confirmed ratings.

EVER’s HERS raters can use the sampling protocol to qualify homes for the ENERGY STAR label, energy code compliance, tax incentives, and other programs.
